من حكايات ماما

Mother does not stop surprising me with her “wisdom”.

The other day and just after some guests left our home, she looked at me and asked “So what do you think of “Mohannad”?

Shopa: “Mohannad who?”
Mum: “Mohannad as in Mohannad & Noor”
Shopa: “Please don’t tell me you watch that crap”
Mum: “I don’t…What do you think of him?”
Shopa: “I don’t think he is handsome at all…Serisouly, I don’t underastand the whole fuss about him”Mum: “I understand”
Shopa: “Explain
Mum: “It’s not about “Mohannad”, it’s about what “Mohannad” represents”
Shopa: “Huh?”
Mum: “My dear Shopa. Teenage girls, young women and old ladies; they are all lacking what is called “Real Romance”. Our lives has zero romance in it. This is why we hang on to anything that is very close to the idea of being romantic. Teenage girls are dreaming of their prince charming that “Mohannad” represents. Young women like yourself who once lost faith in love, will have a tiny hope because of “Mohannad”. And ofcourse old ladies like myself will think back and regret at all the time lost not having a romantic life.”
Shopa: HUH!!
Mum: “Capisca?”
Shopa:”Capisca”

my mom actually said the same thing and i think it’s true. i never watched noor but from what i’ve been hearing, this mohanad dude has that romantic factor that we lack here in kuwait.

true love is close to obsolete here. fiction will have to suffice unless luck strikes.

    *shrugs*

Its true! all those girls arent drooling over the guy (or maybe some are.. although he’s really NOT that hot) but they enjoy the romance the butterflies et al..

    i get it..

will make sure to put mohannad and noor on my to do list if i run outta romance ;P

Tara Muhannad is Fabio from the 90’s! Hal ashkaal are the fodder for the crushes of teenage girls only just starting to be aware of what men are and what attraction to the opposite sex is.

I am not attracted to pretty boys slightly on the effeminate side of things. Or movie stars and celebrities for that matter. I like macho men who are ordinary and real.

Bas ta3alay shoofay baytna when this Muhannad comes on. It’s hysterical how transfixed they all are (family members and house helpers alike) - they are so hypnotized they cant even hear me making fun of them right in their faces LOL!
