Shopaholic Q8eya

It was hard driving there. I almost canceled. I had a fever and the dusty weather didn’t help. I thought I couldn’t cancel last minute. I hate it when people cancel on me last minute. After all I am the guest of honor tonight. How nice of them, throwing me this dinner party, I thought. I wondered who will be there. I know no one but the couple.

Ten minutes after I got there, she said “Shopa, I love your dress, you look marvelous”. I was happy. Who wouldn’t when being complemented especially when they are not feeling well. She then came closer and whispered “I invited two sexy single men tonight” and laughed. I turned around at her husband who swore he didn’t know and that he doesn’t even know those guys.

“I blame you” I said jokingly. He’s the one who invited me after all.

They were the last to come in. They were friends, “friends” I thought. Not very cool. “Do they know” I asked her. “Not really, but they are smart and they will figure it out”.

Dinner was nice, and the guests were very fun to be around. There were 12 of us all from different backgrounds. Politics, religion and many other subjects were discussed. She sat one of them next to me and the other across of me.

One was very outspoken and loud but there was something about him that made me go Hmmmm. The other was shy and more sensible. Just before desert was served she asked what I think. I acted stupid. Afterall, what was I supposed to say? She went on that I need to decide. “Both will ask me and I have to give them an answer, I honestly like him (pointing at the sensible shy dude”.

After dinner, everyone exchanged business cards. Outspoken guy made it clear that he wanted us to be in contact. “In a personal level” he says. I went “Hmmm” once again. I said goodbye to everyone and just when the door was shut behind me, it was open and shy guy followed me. “excuse me, I am sorry I didn’t get to know you better. I was wondering if I can buy a cup of coffee and get to know you better?”. What was I supposed to say? NO? Yes? I smiled nodding. “You have my number, give me a call and we’ll decide”, he said.

Less than 24 hours later, shy guy calls “I know you said you’ll call, but I just couldn’t wait”…..
