Few days ago, I ran into an old friend at a shopping mall.

Friend: Hey, you are back!!
Shopa: yeh, I am.
Friend: When did you get back?
Shopa: I’ve been here for a while now.
Friend: Wow, so are you back for good or just visiting for Xmas?
Shopa: Never say for good. But I’ve been in Kuwait for over a year if that counts as for good!
Friend: Oh, you’ve been back for a year?
Shopa: Yeh!

Few weeks ago, at the family house. I saw one of my cousins who I haven’t seen in few months.

Cousin: Hey, welcome back. Is it over?
Shopa: Thanks. What is?
Cousin: You studies.
Shopa: I was done with school like more than 3 years ago.
Cousin: Oh yeh, true true. I mean, are you done with all the traveling and living abroad?
Shopa: I’m not.
Cousin: So how long will you be in town this time?
Shopa: Forever? I’ve been here for a year now!
Cousin: You have?
Shopa: You saw me during Ramadan, don’t you remember?
Cousin: Well, it’s just you are always out of the country that we don’t know anymore.
Shopa: Ok!

An other old friend texted me the other day.

Friend: Hey Shopa, when are you coming back to Kuwait.
Shopa: I am in Kuwait.
Friend: Since when?
Shopa: How did you know I was traveling anyways?
Friend: What? Weren’t you in the states?
Shopa: Oh, the States! Yeh last year. I thought you were asking when will I be back from my vacation. I was traveling on vacation that’s why.
Friend: WHAT? so you’ve been in Kuwait for a while already that you are going on vacations?
Shopa: Hello? I’ve been here for a year already and been on like dozens of vacations.
Friend: How come you never told me you are back?
Shopa: I did.
Friend: MMMMM, maybe you did.
