“We Read to Know We Are Not Alone”

reading.jpg
Early mornings, waking up, grabbing a book, jogging towards the coffee shop, one cafe latte skimmed milk please.

The same couch I sit on every time, toasted bagel with fat free cream cheese, flipping through the pages of this week’s novel, one book one week.

Spreading cream cheese on my multi-grain bagel, sipping my latte, crossing my legs on the couch, putting my cell phone on silent mode.

Taking a bite of my bagel, cream cheese is all over my face, running towards the counter, grabbing a napkin, smiling.

Reading chapter eleven, he is breaking up with her, I’m thinking I need to get a happier book next time.

More latte to sip, more pages to flip through, and more faces to stare at.

Exchanging smiles to random people, chatting with the same person every week, reading more chapters; more and more.

I wonder why people would stare and think of me as this crazy loner if I did all of that in this country?

I miss my life; give it back to me.

That is too much cream cheese if it covers your face ;p

Stop thinking of the past and look to the future.

    شكو فيهم؟!

who ever looked at you and thought that way .. is a sign of how empty their life is. They have nothing but others to fulfill their life with and cover on their stupidity.

Live your life the way you like it, if you see anyone decent to chat with then do it. if you want to jog in 50 degree’s then do it, if you want to have this life, then you should do have it.. because every day passes by is not going to return no matter what .

Be your self, stick with the legal rules and enjoy your life, if you started it many will follow you and you will start a revolution into making this country with happier citizens.

BTW i used to do that in my coffee days.

I used to go sit alone in the coffee shop and get these looks, I love love love shopping alone- sometimes sit down and have a bite some place & I don’t really care what they think… do it o do it o do it!

If by coffee shop, you mean Starbucks, then I must say you’d be better off without their hot water with chocolate powder… sorry I mean their coffee.

As for the topic at hand, people here just aren’t used to seeing these sorts of thing like for someone to be reading books at a coffee shop all by themselves F.R.I.E.N.D.S style(especially for a lady). Hopefully that will all change one day.

And I was wondering why the funny looks when I sit with the wife & we read books in silence.

Idiot mentality in this country if you ask me. Don’t give a damn about them, do what pleases yourself. :)
Anyway, you’re in Kuwait? For good? Same Co.?

Oh come on people. Aren’t you exaggerating a bit. I do that all the time here. So does my sister occasionally and some friends. We don’t get bothered any looks. Or to be more accurate. Don’t we always get looks anyway? You go shopping, people look. You eat, people look. You laugh, people look. So really. By this time, aren’t we all so used to the voyeurs here that they are almost unnoticeable?

Your post reminded me of my days in Orlando. Seeing the kids off to school. Grabbing my bike and backpack. Heading to (yes to Starbucks. ba3ad shasawee if there’s a Starbucks at every corner?) Spending the whole morning there with my books and laptop. Good days (Good in retrospect of course. Back then I was extremely homesick and I missed my family and friends greatly)
