The play, based on Greek mythology, tells the strory of a sculptor “Pygmalion” who creates a beautiful statue of a woman he names “Galatia”, and then asks Venus, the Goddess of Love, to transform her into a real woman. The story has inspired many artists and writers throughout the ages, among them the Egyptian writer Tawfic al Hakim whose Arabic play “Pygmalion” is the source of Loyac’s interpretation. Loyac’s drama students have been working hard at rehearsals to prepare for the play under the direction of Ms Youmna Balbaki. The play includes dance sequences choreographed by Mr Ibrahim Muzzaner from Beirut’s Caracalla Drama Group.
Another great effort from the Loyac Drama team. Make sure you don’t miss it.
