So this stupid security guy took me across the airport to a security office. He kept looking at my passport and asked me questions about what will I be doing in Germany. While questioning me, he kept trying to swipe my passport on the computer and all I could hear was a beep that you get with an error msg. Being nosy as usual, I peaked into the page he was trying to swipe finding out that he was trying to swipe the wrong visa. I was like, “emm excuse me sir” but he wouldn’t listen to me and kept trying to swipe the visa. I tried few more times but the idiot won’t listen. After few more tries, he looked at me & demanded an explanation on how I got through security with a “fake” visa. “Is someone helping you? Is it an insider?” he asked me. I answered him smiling “You stupid a**, if you look at the right visa, you will see that IT IS ACTUALLY STAMPED cuz I have a valid visa”. Well maybe I didn’t say the exact words in fear of deportation but I took my passport and pointed out to the right visa. Here you go idiot, I thought, probably he wish he was doing my dance instead.
He then laughed and said “3an jad? Eb temza7ii” meaning “Are you serious? You are kidding?” It turned out the guy was Arab. I was so pissed off that he spoke Arabic while we had problems communicating. I am still not sure if he did it on purpose or he was just dumb.
I finally get to Stuttgart where I met with my friend. I was very tired and all I could think of is checking in the hotel, showering & taking a nap. “We can’t go to the hotel, not yet. I am afraid we don’t have a hotel reservation”, my friend said. What? Why?! She explained how this big event is going on in town and all hotels are booked out. AHHH, now I know, I can’t depend on NO ONE when it comes to travel arrangements. To solve the issue, we decided to go around Stuttgart and then take a train to another city where we can spend the night. We rented a locker at the train station, kept our things there and went sightseeing. Stuttgart was beautiful and filled with life. Most of the people where our age. Good shopping and lots of cafes and bars. While walking around downtown, this girl approached me with a big smile. I looked closer and just couldn’t believe it. I know this girl. She is Turkish and my brother is best friends with her brother. The last time I saw her was three years ago in the States just before she moved to Germany. You see, this is a small world after all.
She took us to dinner which was great. I was starving. We go to this really fancy restaurant and I do a BIG mistake. Never EVER order spaghetti with tomato sauce when you are wearing a white T-shirt, NEVER. Hmmm I’ll keep it to your imagination on how I looked after dinner. Anyhow, when this girl knew that we had no place to stay, she asked us to spend the night with her. We didn’t mind, and why would we? People like free stuff, especially when it is a room while we are homeless. We took the train to the city where she lives and it turns out that she is staying at the dorms. Apparently, she is friends with this “powerful” guy who managed to get us a room in the dorms for free. I showered, put on my PJs and got into bed. My friend & I wouldn’t stop talking for three hours. Then,I wondered what our plans are for tomorrow. We didn’t actually think about it. After looking at the map of Germany, we decided that we will wake up around 5 AM & catch a train to Munich. It should take us a good 5 hours. The question is though, did we actually made it to Munich the next day? Hmmmmm.
To Be Continued
The german security can be so annoying at times, I always make sure I have it to the page of my visa to make it easier with them and just shut up. Let them take their time and do their thing even if it is wrong and just ignore them. Seems like the best way.
You should check out Berlin if you can and be sure to take the ICE trains, they are the really fast ones and save you lots of time.
I am going to be there next week visiting a friend near Colonge. Just got to take it easy for a couple days wander around take pictures and practice my German.
