Willkommen Nach Deutschland -Part I

My 4 days short vacation ended. This vacation has been very different in many ways. It is not the first and shall not be the last I take on my awn. Remember my friend that visited me a while ago?

We have been planning to go to Paris this weekend. She has never been there and I offered to show her around. It was 3 weeks ago when we decided that we don’t want to go to Paris and want to go to Germany instead. I have never been to Germany so this seemed like a good plan. The initial plan was to go to Berlin. But a week ago plans changed again, my friend suggested that we go somewhere in the west. Hmm the west, I thought, why not! So I got my ticket on Monday to Stuttgart. Since I booked my ticket very late, & to get a reasonable price, a 3 hours flight took 6.5 hours. I didn’t get any sleep the night before, and wasn’t able to sleep on the plane either.

I get to Hamburg Airport around 11 am local time. The airport was empty, and when I say EMPTY I really mean it! There was no one, not even airport workers. I look for my gate and decide maybe I should get a nap, but I can’t. I walk back to the other terminal and I finally see some life. GOOD! I go around the shops but I feel tired and bored so I go back to where life doesn’t exist. After a while I put my I-pod on and start walking in a circle. Suddenly the walk turned into little dancing. Why not dance, I thought, there is no one around anyway. Seconds later I get so into the song (not a good sign) and I do one of Michel Jackson turns (not to mention the singing). Then he was, this BIG security guard standing there staring at me. I felt silly and stupid. He approached me and said something that sounded like “hobesh kolesh khobesh ta passportaaaa”. I was like what? I don’t speak German. He then asked for my passport in English this time. I gave him my passport and was like why is he checking my passport? I already went through passports check. The guard yelled at me “come with me, you can not enter Germany”. WHAT? WHY? This is so not happening to me.

To Be continued.
